Art show and Video showing

Hello Parents and Guardians

 

The students will be having the annual movie viewing night on June 16th at St. Gregory school.  It will be a fundraising night for new Mac computers for the students. There will be 2 showings of the movies and an art show of all the students art work.

* We are looking for items for a silent auction and need your help. If you have any items that can be in the silent auction please email me or send to school with your son or daughter. Thank you for your help in this matter.

June 16th – Tickets will go on sale at a later date

Silent Auction, Art show with Sculptures grade 7, Book Sculptures grade 5, Visual Twin grade 7, Aboriginal Art work paintings grade 6 and 7, Final grade 8 Art work viewing. There will be claymation, animation, commercial and movie viewings that night.

Movie viewing times are 6:oopm and 7:30pm (there will be an afternoon showing for the St. Gregory school)

The student posters and Dvd’s will be on sale that evening.

Arts Education Assignments

Hello everyone,

Please email me for rubrics and any other information:: All art work will be due at the beginning of June.

Here is what the students will be doing in the month of May – Arts Education students in grade 7 will be starting their sculpture projects. 

Bigger than Life – Sculpture Project

 

*All questions must be answered in your scrapbook assignment

 

Starting your sculpture:

  • Scrapbook:
  • Create a material supply /4
  • Draw sketches of your sculptures (Front, Back, side and top view) /10
  • Describe your step by step actions you took in creating your sculpture

- This should be a daily reflections- adding the date and what you did that day.  2 marks per day.

  • Be creative: draw diagrams, give footnotes  / 20
  • Find a sculpture artist that you enjoy.

Questions should be answered in Scrapbook.

Artist: – Do not copy and paste – you should have all information in your own words – copy and pasting will result to a ZERO!

  1. Who was the artist of the Sculptures?
  2. Give detailed background of the artist – a timeline of his/her life.
    1. Birth, death
    2. Employments
    3. Marriage
    4. Hobby
    5. Where they lived
    6. Who were their influences
    7. Add any other information you have found on this artist
  3. Record what style was this sculpture (Baroque, classicism, cubism, dada, expressionism, fauvism, impressionism, realism, renaissance, romanticism, surrealism)

 

 

The Sculptures – Pick minimum of 5 pictures

  1. Where was the sculpture made?
  2. What was the date the sculptures were made and how long did it take?
  3. How much do these sculptures cost?
  4. Add pictures of this artist work, Describe why you like or dislike their sculptures.
  5. Bibliography- make sure to add all websites and books you used for both research and pictures.
  6. Create your artist card – on the card you type out you should include:

-         Name:

-         Title: (of Artwork)

-         Material: list all material used

-         Description: describe why you created this art piece and what the theme is

 

 Grade 6 – Visual Twin project – students will need to paint their backdrop and get costumes ready for pictures that will be taken on May 15.  Students will be presenting their pictures and research along with one object that they will create.

  • Record the full name of sitter (my visual twin)

  • Record what style was this painted in (Baroque, classicism, cubism, dada, expressionism, fauvism, impressionism, realism, renaissance, romanticism, surrealism)

* Find out what it would be like to live in the time*

  1. What was the weather like in the artist city?
  2. What was the popular music of that time?
    1. List name of famous musicians and their work
  3. What was the fashion like during this time?
  4. What was the literature of the time
    1. List famous authors
  5. What political impacts were occurring at this time?
  6. Where were the predominant religious leaders of the time?
  7. What are some of the discoveries and inventions?
  8. Any other facts or finding about living in that era.

Starting your art work:

  • Find a picture you would like to recreate
  • Make sure there is not to much detail and that an artist created the picture.
  • Find 3 pictures for 3 different artists (you will only have to do one picture)
  • Once your picture has been verified by the teacher – you will need a colour copy of the painting

Hello All,

Here is the update for what is taking place this month.

Arst Ed – Students need to finish Commericals and animations  by Feb. 27th

Creative Writing – Students have picked between a comic that takes place in Regina or an essay on “What watershed means” – Students have started on their web and stories will be due – March 19th.

Reading – We have started a group reading project with Mr. P class and Mrs. D is helping out with a group. The 3 different groups – The Boy in The Stripped Pjajmas – Bridge to Terabithia and Could Dracula Live in Woodford.

Spelling Students will be having a spelling test on Monday March 9th on Unit 9 –

Students have created Reading goals and have till the end of the month to reach them for a free lunch.

Hello Everyone!

Here is what is going on in the classroom!

Spelling New Unit 6 will be handed out. Students will have a test on some of these words the first week of February. unit6 (Here are the words), assignment will be given out next Monday January 26th.

Reading- Students have picked goals for reading. Each student has picked a number of books that he/she can read each month. If they get their goal they will be entered for a free lunch.

Ar – Students will be having their next Book Talk on Feb. 6th

Art Ed. – Students are doing their pre production for film and animation due Feb. 2nd.

They will start filming on the 3rd and their project will be due on Feb. 27th.

Regligion – Students will have their Saskatchewan Miracle project due on Jan. 22nd – Presenations will be that day.

ELA – Students have started an aborginal artist study – here is a link of the time line – outline-for-artist-study

Creative Writing was due yesterday and students have upload their Christmas stoires on the blog, please read the stories and leave a comment!

Religion – Students have a project due on January 22nd on Saskatchewan Miracles

English- All students need their library cards for this week, they are heading to the library to get books out for their artist study they are starting. They are also working on a paragraph about their Christmas hoilday, these are due on Friday January 9th.

Spelling – Unit 4 Spelling test will be January 19th. Here are the unit4 words.

 

Ar – keep on reading we are in 4th place for the Ar reading reading challenge.
